Heavenly Rest – Bed & Breakfast Abilene
Heavenly Rest – Sayles Landmark Bed & Breakfast Abilene
What we like about this room: The view over the treetops of the Church of the Heavenly Rest bell tower and the sound of the church bells! And again, the unique bed made from Gothic, stain glass windows and the ends of antique church pews!
Because of the view out the window of the dormer over the front porch, looking over the treetops to the bell tower of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, we have chosen a “church aesthetic”. Many people are astonished to learn that this small Gothic cathedral was designed by the same architect that designed the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.! Our talented craftsman, Emmet Lovelady, built the Queen size bed from a pair of Gothic, stained glass windows and the pew ends from a 19th century church in Manchester, England. And, of course, it is dressed with a superior quality mattress and high thread count sheets. The chandelier once hung in church and there are various other ecclesiastical elements in the décor. In addition to the church themed items, the room is equipped with a mini fridge, high speed, wireless internet, a 42 inch flat screen television and DVD player, and conveniently located electrical connections on each side of the bed that include a pair of standard outlets and a pair of USB ports for all those devices that we all have these days.
The en suite bathroom has a subway tiled shower and a vanity repurposed from an antique, Victorian dresser with a marble top. Top quality bath amenities add a level of luxury. Note: Our guests over 6 feet tall may find this shower to be too short.
Sayles Landmark, the Bed & Breakfast Abilene has been eagerly awaiting, in now open!
